November 2007: Networks Lab PhD student Marwan Batayneh, his research advisor Biswanath Mukherjee, and their research collaborators Dr. Andreas Kirstädter, Dr. Dominic A. Schupke, and Dr. Marco Hoffman from Nokia Siemens Networks, Germany, won the IEEE Globecom 2007 Optical Networking Symposium Best Paper Award for the paper "Lightpath-Level Protection versus Connection-Level Protection for Carrier-Grade Ethernet in a Mixed-Line-Rate Telecom Network".

June 2004: Dr. Keyao Zhu (PhD Student of Biswanath Mukherjee) wins the 2004 Zuhair A. Munir Distinguished Dissertation Award in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Davis.
