Invited Participant, NSF Workshop on Optical Communications Systems and Networks: Research and Education (March 1994).
The objective of this workshop was to identify critical research and educational issues in optical communications systems and networks, including (1) future research directions in all-optical networks, (2) identification of contributions from academia and industry, (3) successes and failures of industry/university interactions, and (4) optical communications curriculum development.
Invited Participant, NSF Workshop on All-Optical Telecommunications for Local-, Metropolitan-, and Wide-Area Networks (January 1993).
The charge of this Workshop was to prepare a formal report for NSF which (1) identifies key issues and their relationships, (2) describes a substantive research program to apply optical networks in support of HPCC, (3) suggests new and important applications, and (4) distinguishes the type of individual research activities needed for forming cross-disciplinary research teams.
